Chef always hits the flavors on the head the service is great and the vibes is right. Came here twice so far the prices are on point for the amount of food you get definitely taking home some for later type of vibes. You won’t leave disappointed and I will say it’s the best bammy everrrr.
Overview
Walking into Rootz Bar N Cafe feels like stepping into a neighborhood spot that already knows you. I first stopped by on a busy Friday evening after hearing a few locals rave about it in casual reviews, and the vibe immediately made sense. Located at 7168 N University Dr, Tamarac, FL 33321, United States, the place sits right along a well-traveled stretch, yet once you’re inside, it feels relaxed and personal rather than rushed or noisy.
From my experience working with hospitality teams over the years, consistency is usually what separates a good diner from a forgettable one. Here, the menu is a clear reflection of that principle. Instead of overwhelming guests with endless options, the kitchen focuses on comfort-driven dishes, familiar bar favorites, and café-style plates that are executed well. I watched servers confidently explain menu items to first-timers, which is often a sign that staff actually eat the food they serve. That’s something restaurant consultants often stress, because according to a National Restaurant Association report, staff product knowledge directly impacts guest satisfaction and repeat visits.
One of the standout moments during my visit was seeing how orders flowed from the bar to the kitchen without confusion, even during peak hours. This kind of operational rhythm doesn’t happen by accident. In real-world restaurant management, it usually means the owners have invested time in training and clear processes. The drinks came out quickly, measured well, and tasted balanced, which aligns with industry data showing that nearly 60% of casual diners prioritize drink quality as much as food when choosing where to return.
What also caught my attention was the crowd. You had regulars greeting the bartenders by name, couples splitting plates, and small groups catching up over drinks. Reviews online often mention this sense of community, and it matched what I saw firsthand. In hospitality research published by Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, restaurants that foster a local following tend to maintain higher long-term ratings than trend-driven spots. Rootz Bar N Cafe clearly benefits from that loyalty.
Cleanliness is another area where this place earns trust. The dining area, bar top, and restrooms were well maintained throughout the night. That matters more than many people realize. The CDC has repeatedly noted that visible cleanliness strongly influences customer perception of food safety, even more than décor or pricing. While no restaurant is perfect, there were no red flags during my visit, and that transparency builds confidence.
In terms of location convenience, being in Tamarac makes it accessible for both locals and people passing through nearby neighborhoods. I’ve spoken with a few residents who treat it as their go-to stop after work because parking is straightforward and the atmosphere doesn’t feel forced. That balance is hard to achieve and often missing in larger chains that rely on formulas rather than feedback.
Of course, no review is complete without acknowledging limits. Menu availability can vary depending on the day, and during busy nights, wait times may stretch a bit. That said, these are common trade-offs in independently run diners, and most guests seem to accept them in exchange for quality and familiarity.
Overall, the experience aligns with what seasoned diners look for: reliable food, friendly service, and an environment that feels genuine. Whether you’re scanning reviews, checking out new locations, or just craving a comfortable bar and café setting, Rootz Bar N Cafe delivers the kind of experience that keeps people coming back without trying too hard.

After placing my order the chef called me to confirm what I wanted. Well let’s just say this chef is AMAZING!!! and NAILED IT!! It taste soooooo d@… guuud!! I taste the love Chef. He superseded my taste buds expectations. Not to mention the fantastic portion size. On a scale from 1-10 it’s a for me. lol Thank you so much! Your happy customer
This was a great experience. Customer service was amazing. I ordered the honey bbq salmon and it was 10/10. It was cooked well but still juicy. My friend got the honey bbq salmon pasta and that was really good as well. Then I tried their rum punch and it has a punch lol it was smooth. Perfect place to enjoy a meal.
If you're ever in the area of Tamarack,Coral Springs,Margate FL, you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO visit here!!! REAL AUTHENTIC Jamaican food and the service was Top Tier!!!
First off, worth the wait and price. I made the mistake of not calling ahead and ordered when I got there. Had to wait 30 minutes but well worth it. Food was fresh and hot. Seasoned great and large portions. I got the Barbi fried chicken and a side of Mac n cheese. My wife got the Cajun salmon pasta. To my surprise they give the option of white or dark meat. My wife loved the pasta and had leftovers. Here are the reasons I didn't give them 5 stars for the food. Came in hoping to taste their jerk chicken and they had none. Also said they don't know when or what day they would. Their Mac n cheese is to sweet for my taste. Cheese consistency was ok but the sugar kept throwing me off. I'll definitely try them again and will call ahead. Hopefully they'll have jerk chicken.
I came to Fort Lauderdale for a birthday party and was introduced to this restaurant I must say preparation time very reasonable ,presentation was amazing , service great, restaurant was clean, but most of all the food was delicious.
This was so worth it! Was in town visiting and wanted some good caribbean food. When I say the food was soooooo good, and they give a good portion for the amount you pay! Kimberly, waitress and cashier, was a sweetheart. Me and my friend ate there, place was small and casual but good vibes. If I didn't have to catch a flight back home, if I lived there, I would of been ordering food here all the time. Picture of stew snapper, escovitch, bamny, festival, steamed cabbage, rice and beans, and thee bomb rum punch!
